Beach House Love // Newporter

My favourite beach house in Newport is for sale! I first saw it in Real Living Magazine last year and scouring the local real estate mag this weekend just gone, I saw that it is up for sale.  So, if you are in the market, get in quick. This baby won't be around long!

What I love about this house is that it has been renovated, but the owners stayed true to the home's original character. So many of these beauties are being torn down to make way for contemporary homes or mini palaces.  Long live the old girls!  They certainly don't make them like they used to.

Modern Day Bohemian // Avalon

As promised, here is Heidi Middleton's Avalon cottage.  I am not so nosey as simply looking at houses in the area to get ideas for my very own cottage!  Promise. This little house is tucked away, but the work being done was so outstanding, so simple and refined. It was hard not to notice it on one of my walks. The inside, as seen below, is restrained, quite monochrome with touches of lovely textures. Might be a retreat away from the kids perhaps! Has to be surely!

Modern Day Bohemian // Palm Beach

I have been been a fan of Sarah Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton of the Sass & Bide fame since their Paddington Market days when I was in high school. Uber cool and effortless style. Always surprising, always drool worthy. Their homes are no different. Beautifully filled with vintage and worldly finds.

Heidi lives up the road in Palm Beach - yes I have bumped into her at WW. No, I did not say hi! She actually has two homes in the area. One up on the hill in Palmy and a smaller cottage in Avalon. Both beautiful. According to her Instagram feed, she renovated the cottage with her mum. I had been watching it's makeover before I knew who owned it. Her insta feed gave a little tour - brilliant!

I am first to admit that this house tour is not a new kid on the block. It was first featured a little while ago and I have had it bookmarked that long. I guess, as I grow and my taste changes with my lifestyle, different things appeal to me at different times. At this time, this house in all it's odd bod, pieced together tapestry of life, appeals. I hope you haven't seen it before and if you have, then I hope you enjoyed seeing it again. I find the more I look at pictures, the more I see.  It is like watching your favourite movie a thousand times... you keep watching it not because you want to watch the main story every time, but because you start seeing the story and characters behind the main story. All those little things that were missed first, maybe 10th time round. The details.  Afterall, it's all about the details right!?

So I hope Heidi's incredible talent inspires something for you today.

Beach House LOVE

In doing my garden research for the cottage, I have stumbled across some drop jaw beach houses. Here is something a little special I found this week. Not sure where exactly it is. From the look of the coastline (shown in other pics from source), it is on the cliffs of the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.

Gardens were done by William Dangar + Associates. Amazing. Enjoy.

The week that was

It was my birthday last week and we got out of Sydney for a few days.  My folks have a holiday house down the south coast that they bought with clam shells some 30 years ago. Is a great spot with long warm shallows to laze around in, often on a floating device and a chilled beverage of the alcoholic kind. As it had been so long since we had been there, all I wanted was to crack out the cossie, get in that water and get some sun on my skin. Do you think that mr weatherman listened to my private prayers? Nope he didn't. If he could have just turned off the chill in the light wind, that would have been great. Oh well. My skin and sanity will have to wait till Christmas.

We also have another little celebration to announce. My not even 6 month old has 3 teeth!  What the? I know!  He cut his third tooth, a front tooth on Halloween. Poor little mite.

So the below is a snapshot of our time recently.

1// The trip to the south coast took some 6 hours. A trip that would usually take 3. We had multiple feeding stops, both false alarms and real. I think my little one has found his limit in a car seat - 1 hour. Not helpful really. Alas, Berry was on the cards for a stop.  Why Berry? Why, because it has the best darn donuts in the whole world!  A coffee from the Berry Sourdough Bakery and donuts from the Famous Berry Donut Van. Birthday perfection.

2// The beach front at our holiday house. Little man had such a lovely time exploring; poking sticks at hermit crabs and jelly fish. Ah the simple things.

3// So if the wind picks up at our place, we head across the way to Murrays Beach. It sits on the southern end of Jervis Bay. Gorgeous part of the world. I went there in jeans and a cardi. The boys stripped off and went swimming. It was freeeezing. Boys!

4// Birthday pressie from the beautiful Cass at Live it, Do it. Such a gorgeous girl. She and her beautiful bevie of kids were able to drop in for a night while we were away. So it appears I have officially been inducted into the Northern Beaches community. I now have my own pair of Saltwater Sandals! Thanks Cass. So ugly they are nice right! x

5// Oh this little guy breaks my heart every single day. He is such a lover. So happy... except of course when teething. On this day, we found a new tooth. He was sad and sore and so very tired but I had to capture it.

So I was in the hairdressers the other day and as you do when you are sitting in the chair for HOURS, you talk about nearly everything. Somehow we got onto the topic of food, not actually surprising for me, lets be honest. Anyways, I was introduced to a seriously beautiful app that I just had to share.

It is called The Whole Pantry.  Know it?

Beautiful photography, coupled with insightful information, guides/references and not to mention yummy wholesome recipes. This app should be on everyone's phone.

The app was born of Belle Gibson's own journey of health discovery. She was diagnosed with a brain tumour with little knowledge of how to begin healing.

The Whole Pantry bring together the integral needs of a balanced life, with this app being your new pantry, or storeroom of health, wellness and lifestyle guides, recipes and inspiration. We don't think a healthy life starts and ends with food you eat or the exercise you do, but inclusive of the homes you live in and the environment around you.

I encourage you all to have a look at it. There is much more than simply recipes and there being soo much information about wholesome living on the web, Belle has cut through the crap and found great references for us... all in one place and all wrapped up in a pretty bow. A favourite part is that with each recipe, she has highlighted the health benefits of ingredients. So you make beautiful food while you learn of the benefits that food is doing to your body.  An often forgotten part of modern day, convenient eating.

Getting back to basics has never been so exciting.
